The Chamber: A Year in Review

Hometown pride is good for business. According to Chamber President, Kanette Keough, companies are more likely to locate in a community that exhibits a united spirit, and potential residents are drawn to areas that display sense of belonging. She says community pride also plays a major role in attracting and engaging visitors.

“Building community spirit creates an emotional equity – an enthusiasm and energy among residents,” said Keough. “Citizens who feel a sense of pride talk more favorable about their Town. They are also more likely to serve as volunteers for community organizations or to serve on Town Boards and Commissions.”

To encourage community pride, the Chamber recently launched Colors of Collierville, a line of t-shirts and sweatshirts with color names like ‘Water Tower,’ ‘Dragon’s Breath,’ ‘Azaleas on the Square,’ and ‘Rich Aquifer.’  Keough says these names celebrate things that make the Town special and evoke good feelings.

The Chamber encourages buyers to wear their t-shirt and sweatshirts to local places where people gather, like parks, restaurants, sporting events, and shopping centers.  Keough also hopes they will pack their shirts whenever they travel. “This is our Town, and we love it, so let’s tell the world.”

Residents are encouraged to share photos of themselves and their families wearing Colors of Collierville t-shirts and sweatshirts around town or wherever they might travel by using #colorsofcollierville on Facebook and Instagram. Shirts may be purchased through collierville-chamber.com, or by visiting the Chamber office located at 485 Halle Park Drive.
