Off-Leash Dog Park

BY Anna Bell

The Collierville Parks and Recreations Department is opening their newly renovated, off-leash dog park this weekend. This renovation included a 5000-foot expansion to the fenced in area, five pet agility stations, and a sitting area for the owners.

Director of Parks and Recreation, Greg Clark, oversaw the renovations and hopes this new off-leash area will give our canine citizens a place to play and socialize. “People love their pets,” Clark said, “Our citizens love their pets and we see animal lovers through, not only people who come into our office and talk to our staff, but also being in constant contact with the animal shelter. Collierville is a pet friendly town and we want to do what we can to give our pets the opportunity to play and socialize with other pets.”

Renovations for the off-leash area started April 29th and will continue this week. According to Clark, the Department hopes to be able to reopen the park in time for the Memorial Day weekend. Suggs Parks also includes two lit baseball/softball fields, a playground and picnic area, a pavilion, restroom facilities and a new 1.3 acre fenced in off-leash area. Suggs Park is located at 163 East South Street and is open seven days a week from dawn until dusk each day. For more information visit their website, colliervilleparks.org.
