Local Travel Leaders Give Back

BY Anna Bell

When you live in a thriving Town with a state-of-the-art, knock out High School and local businesses being supported by community members on all fronts, it’s hard to imagine that there could be a serious issue, such as hunger, affecting your neighbor. According to Travel Leaders-Memphis Facebook page, “one in eight people, and one in six children struggle with hunger.” Unfortunately that statistic isn’t just hypothetical.

Travel Leaders-Memphis has partnered with Feeding America to help our local Mid-South Food Bank fight hunger in our area! The Collierville Travel Leaders branch is also participating in this exciting nation-wide, seventh annual “Day of Giving” that is actually a two-week long event for both employees and agents. The event started on June 24th and will end on the final “Day of Giving” July 11th.

How can you help? Collierville community members can collect non-perishable food items and connect with local Collierville Branch Travel Leader, Martie Watson, on how best to supply donations any time between now and July 11th.

“I believe in giving back to our community. This is just one of the things we [Travel Leaders] do to give back and we do it in the Summer,” says Watson. “We’re encouraging our clients to drop off donations at our Memphis office, but if someone in Collierville is willing to participate, they can email me to schedule a time to meet or drop off their donations at our Collierville location.”

The Memphis office, located at 2765 Wolf Creek Pkwy, Ste. 104, Memphis 38133 (in the Best Buy / Target parking lot – next door to David’s Bridal) is set up to receive donations.

You can reach Martie via email at martie@gotravelleaders.com or visit the Collierville branch located at 155 N. Main St. Suite 101A, Collierville 38017 if you cannot make it out to the Memphis office to donate.

“We collected over 150 pounds (of non-perishable food items) last year. I challenged all the agents to beat that number by collecting at least 200 pounds this year,” says Watson.

Collierville community members can help tip the scales in their favor by gathering your donations at your next grocery trip and contacting Martie to schedule drop-off before next week on Travel Leaders “Day of Giving” on July 11th!
