Collierville Environmental Commission Nominations

BY Regan Hewitt

It’s time to recognize those taking the initiative to be eco-friendly in our community! The Collierville Environmental Commission [CEC] is hosting its second annual Collierville Forward program.

Collierville Forward encourages participants to create an environmentally friendly project, implement the idea, and submit the project results. The CEC will recognize the projects with Environmental Excellence Awards, recognizing our local environmental stewards!

We want to recognize our residents, businesses, schools, and more for their impact on local sustainability,” said Sheila Bentley, CEC member. “Together we can make a difference and improve the environment for current and future members of the Collierville community.

As a new addition this year, the CEC will give honorary Collierville Forward Awards to ongoing environmental projects in Town. The first selection for the Honorary Collierville Forward Award is the Collierville Victory Garden. Started in 2008, the Victory Garden was created by Master Gardeners to grow produce to donate weekly to the Collierville Food Pantry. The Victory Garden is completely funded and maintained by volunteers comprised of Master Gardeners, scouts, school groups, and other community volunteers. Located at Collierville Christian Church, 707 Byhalia, learn more about the Collierville Victory Garden by visiting their Facebook page: facebook.com/cvg.mamg
