It Starts with a Square

Summer Fashion

BY Chelsey Handley

Now is the perfect time to not only update your wardrobe with some of Summer’s coolest trends, but to also add in a few game-changing pieces that will help you stand out among the crowd. Whether planning your next getaway vacation or simply looking for a cute dress for a Summer Concert Series on the Square, here are a few style tips to keep in mind when creating your looks this upcoming season:

 Always Bet on Denim

Skinny jeans are a year-round staple, but for the warmer months, you want to keep it cool. Distressed cut-offs and cropped jeans with a frayed hem can easily be dressed up with a statement making blouse and platform sandals, or kept casual, but on trend with lots of
layered necklaces and breezy crop tops.

Let Your Jewelry and Accessories Do the Talking

If jeans and a simple tee are more your thing, but you still want to zhoosh it up, look for intricate, statement making jewelry to add to your collection. Mixed metals in geometric shapes and colorful beading are must-haves this season and instantly elevate whatever you’re wearing; just pile it on as you’re heading out the door. For your bag, keep it cute (circular style bags are hot right now), and keep it tiny so that you can carry your essentials (phone, wallet, and your favorite lippie) close to your body.

Gem Tones Make Everything Better

What’s better than a sundress? A sundress in a bright, pretty color. Gem tones are bold, but still flattering on just about everyone, and look great when paired with your favorite denim jacket and casual booties. Look for shades like topaz, teal, and garnet to play up tanned skin, and if it has fun pom-pom details, scoop it up!

Let your Footwear Lead the Way

If you wear the wrong shoes to a Summer concert, your feet will be toast! So when all else fails, go for comfort and stability (with a little chicness thrown in). You want to wear shoes that you can walk around for hours in, so ankle boots and wedges/espadrilles are the way to go. White ankle booties are all the rage right now, but you can never go wrong with classic cowboy boots, or thick strap platform sandals (trust when we say the extra padding will help).

Guys Can Up Their Style Game Too

While graphic tees and cargo shorts are a no-brainer outfit, it’s totally cool for guys to switch it up too. Breezy button downs with a fun pattern are stylish without doing too much, and will work with both khakis and distressed denim. Men with style can push boundaries a little bit, so don’t be afraid to also add a hat or simple gold necklaces and beaded bracelets into the mix.

When choosing your outfit for the night, just know that you can truly wear whatever you want without sticking to one aesthetic. With so many festivals and fun to choose from around Collierville, the sartorial possibilities are endless.
