Hi everyone! My name is Koda. I’m a two-year-old, male Shepherd/Husky mix living at the Collierville Animal Shelter. I used to belong to some humans until something happened and they could no longer care for me. One day they loaded me up in the car for a ride. A car ride, whoo-hoo! But this turned out to be a bad ride. 

They drove for a while, stopped the car, got me out and then left me there by the road, alone and confused. I was lost and heartbroken! I drank from puddles and wondered how I could get food. I guess some humans think that dogs can easily survive on the streets. Not true! I wandered for days until a kind human took pity and arranged for me to get to the animal shelter. 

When I arrived at the shelter, the humans were shocked by how weak and skinny I was. They said I was skin and bones. Everything was strange there and I was terrified. After what had happened to me, I was positive I couldn’t trust anyone, even the kind humans at the shelter.

However, time does heal wounds. The bath, food, walks and attention I have gotten here at the shelter have allowed me to blossom. I have returned to a healthy weight, shrugged off my fear and learned to trust again.

Now, the humans say I’m majestic looking! They comment on my shiny, fluffy fur and my beautifully masked face. But unlike superheroes, my mask is not to hide my identity. On the contrary, I’m here so I can be discovered! I’m looking for my forever home.

I’m a happy-natured guy who is good on a leash and looks forward to my walks. I’m athletic, need exercise and love to run. I love humans but, due to my size and occasional food protection (from my starvation days), I would do best with older children. I am outgoing, love being petted and have I mentioned that I love humans? Well, I do!
